Round 1

1. Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

The Jaguars need a play caller.  Manziel is the reigning Heisman trophy winner and by all accounts should be the odds on favorite for it again this coming season.  The Aggies did lose a lot of quality players but Manziel is one of those kids that can make plays regardless of what is out there.  He may be small but isnt Drew Brees and Russel Wilson?

2.   Jadeveon Clowney, OLB, South Carolina

The Jets failed to realize that they lacked a pass rush which really hurt their team overall.  If Rex and company are going to have any success they need to add a pass rush.  Clowney is the best prospect for a pass rush that you can get and might end up being a 3-4 OLB by years end.  He is certainly not big enough nor has a big enough frame to add weight to be a DT.

For the Jets, they are in such disarray that they need to add as much youth to the team as possible.  Besides, pairing Clowney with Coples would really help out their pass rush immensely.

3.   Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

The Raiders have Matt Flynn and Terrelle Pryor.  But they need someone that is going to be a legitimate starter this regime can call their own.  Flynn will hold over the season but will most likely be replaced by one of the top QB's in this draft class.  Bridgewater will bring to the Raiders what Jamarcus Russell could not.  A productive QB that is smart, has a big arm, and plays the game because he loves football and not food.

4.   Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

The Chargers signed King Dunlap from the Eagles this off season, but they really need to upgrade the LT spot so Rivers doesnt get killed before he is 35.  Dunlap will be servicable, but not nearly a starter.  Matthews is the son of OL coach and Hall of Famer for the Tennessee Titans Bruce Matthews and the brother of Clay Matthews.  Jake has the same instincts in him like his brother and that is to engage and run over anyone in your way.

You can bet that Matthews will be fundamentally sound when it comes to protection and blocking techniques.  Matthews should be the first OT off the board and in a good spot for a team that needs one.

5.  Bradley Roby, CB, Ohio State

I had thought that Roby would have come out last year, but he returned to Ohio State.  Roby is probably the best CB in this draft and he should prove it this season at Ohio State.  If the Buckeyes end up winning the Big 10 and going undefeated, Roby will be a big player in that achievement.  Roby is not a turnover kind of player but he breaks up a lot of passes.  He only had 2 INT's last season but 16 PD's. He is always around the ball and tends to smother his coverage on his target WR.

6.  Marqise Lee, WR, USC

The Chiefs have Dwayne Bowe but they need to add another threat on the outside to take pressure off of Bowe.  Lee is a prolific WR from the Trojans and even though Robert Woods got a lot of the hype last season, Lee was still able to put together a heck of a season with 118 receptions and over 1700 yards.  He also rang the bell with 14 TD's.  We'll have to see if he can have the same success without Barkley at the helm.

7.  Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA

The Cardinals signed Lorenzo Alexander from the Redskins, but he is turning 30 this season and while he is a special teams pro bowler, he is not a quality starter.  The Cardinals are going to need an outside pass rusher to match with Acho and Barr is just that kind of player.

If Barr would have come out he would have been a first round pick easily, but if he has a season anywhere close to where he had last year, he will find himself in the top 10.

8   Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma

Right now the Steelers have Cortez Allen and Ike Taylor as their starting CB's.  Ike Taylor is getting into his twilight years and the Steelers need to build some quality starter depth here.  While I have that at #8 its mainly because their division has gotten very competitive and they need to start building good quality depth in Pittsburgh or they are going to find themselves at the bottom looking up very fast.

Colvin is a tall CB that had 4 INT's last season but was also a tackling machine.  He is very physical and will be a great pick up for the aging Steelers secondary.

9.   Ha'Sean Clinton-DIx, S, Alabama

The Browns need a S badly.  They currently have a 7th rounder starting and did not fill the hole with a better quality player in a heavy S class.  Clinton-Dix is a high profile S that is going to be on the watch playing at Alabama this season.  If he produces like he did last season, then the Browns should find resolve to their S problems in 2014.  They are still going to need a QB and they could look to trade back out of this pick.

10. Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

While the Titans did well to shore up their interior OL, the Titans need to look a bit into the future and build the OT position as Roos and Stewart are upcoming in the free agent market soon and the Titans are going to have to replace them if they do not resign them.

This could be a spot for a QB as well as Locker will be entering his 3rd season and if he cannot move the offense or improve their position from 2013, it might come down to the QB position needing a makeover.  But Lewan is to much to pass up here.

11.  Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame

The Cowboys are going to find themselves in this position because they first have Tony Romo, and they second, ignored their defensive line.  Even passing on Sharrif Floyd at 18 who would have been a perfect fit for the Cowboys and Monte Kiffin's defense.  They went after a RB and a WR instead of getting the best player available.

Jerry Jones needs to look in the mirror and do what Dan Snyder did, take a step back out of football operations and let a true GM come in and revamp the team.

12. Adrian Hubbard, OLB, Alabama

The Saints have moved Jonathan Vilma to the OLB spot but he is not a pure pass rusher and the Saints are going to need one of those as the convert into the 3-4.  Hubbard is the ideal OLB for a pass rushing scheme. 6'6 and 260lbs will definitely be able to handle the OT's and shed blocks to slant the edges.

13. James Hurst, OT, North Carolina

The Bills currently have a long in the tooth veteran at RT and they could use an upgrade at the position.  Chris Hairston could be moved to the right side, but the Bills need to build up OT depth anyway.  Hurst should come in and be able to start right away.

14. Cyrus Kouandijo, OT, Alabama

The Lions are not quite sure what they have at either OT position and it may serve them best to move Reiff to the right side and draft a LT.  A true LT.  Either way, they need to figure out their OT position after losing two starters and not drafting or signing any replacements.

15. Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, TE, Washington

The Bucs have Luke Stocker who is not really panning out to be anything and they had Dallas Clark who is a bit past his prime.  They did obtain Tom Crabtree and Zach Miller but neither are going to be that intermediate pass range threat that Sefarian-Jenkins will be in the NFL.  If the Bucs are in need of upgrading their TE position, they need to do so soon.  Josh Freeman or Mike Glennon will benefit greatly from acquiring one.

16.  Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon

The Eagles signed a lot of free agents in 2013 but they really didnt upgrade the secondary as well as they thought they did.  They need a stud CB to take the place of the loss of Asumogha and DRC.  They signed Bradley Fletcher but he is not a true #1 CB.

17 C.J. Mosely, ILB, Alabama

With the retirement of Ray Lewis, the Ravens really did not fill the void with a suitable replacement. They grabbed Arthur Brown in the 2nd round but they still need that SILB which Ray played so well.  Mosely should be that guy if the Ravens find themselves in this picking position.

18. Stephen Tuitt, DT, Notre Dame

Paul Soliai and Randy Starks are going to be free agents and the Dolphins should be prepared in case one of them walks in free agency.  Tuitt will be a force that the Dolphins would take a long hard look at if they lose one of their DT's after the 2013 season.

19. Kyle Van Noy, OLB, BYU

The Rams are going to have to build some OLB depth and fast. Jo-Lonn Dunbar was brought over from the Lions but they really cannot believe that Dunbar is their long term answer at the SLB position.  Van Noy stole the show at his bowl game and is highly predicted to go top 20 in 2014.

20. Justin GIlbert, CB, Oklahoma State

The Bears added quite a few pieces to their defense but they neglected the CB position in which they are old and thin with quality depth.  Adding Gilbert should give them a starter for years.

21. Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia

Eli is no spring chicken and David Carr is not any younger.  The Giants need to get a young stud QB behind Eli in order to groom him for the takeover.

22 . Daniel McCullers, NT, Tennessee

The Packers are running down Raji quickly.  He needs some help as a spell and 3rd down pass rushing ability or at least someone to come in on some run plays or jumbo sets. McCullers is 370 lbs and agile and would play the role perfectly for Raji.

23. Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State

Kevin Williams is approaching that point where he is becoming ineffective.  While the two DE's for the Vikings are going to be free agents, its hard for them not to keep one of them while upgrading the interior of the line.  Jernigan will take over for Williams.

24. Deshazor Everett, CB, Texas A&M

The Colts need help covering WR's so they need to select a CB that can do such a thing. This is a CB rich class of seniors so the Colts could find themselves with a handful of CB's to choose from at this position.

25.   (from Washington) Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU

This is the decision year for Sam Bradford.  With Jeff Fisher having put just about all the pieces together, Bradford needs to show that he is ready to take the next step.  No more excuses.  If Bradford cannot get it done this year, look for the Rams to move in another direction as there is no ties for Fisher and Bradford.

26. Trent Murphy, OLB, Stanford

While the Bengals have signed James Harrison, that cannot be the long term answer for the Bengals.  They will need to look in this draft for the long term answer at OLB.  While Murphy might be a 3-4 OLB he has the size and speed to play the SLB in a 4-3.

27. Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida

The Falcons are going to need a pass rush for the future if they plan on staying competitive and winning a superbowl.

28. Craig Loston, S, LSU

The Texans need to upgrade the S position as Danieal Manning will not be the long term answer for the Texans.  Bringing in Loston and to pair with Swearinger would be a great S duo for the Texans.

29.  Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU

Its not a matter of if but when Tommy Kelly's secret is found out that he is not that good and doesnt treat the game with a heck of a lot of respect, the Patriots will drop him like they did with Haynesworth.  Johnson did very well as LSU's 3rd DT last season and should find himself in an immediate starting role with the Pats.

30.   Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt

One position the Seahawks need to find an upgrade at is WR.  Sidney Rice is so inconsistent that Percy Harvin was brought in to take pressure off of Rice to be the guy.  Matthews will now take pressure off of both of them and be a stud WR.

31. Andrew Jackson, ILB, Western Kentucky

Joe Mays is not the answer for the Bucs at MLB and frankly they are going to be pretty weak at that position in 2013.  The Broncos also only signed DRC to a 1 year contract and that is going to be another position they could move in 2014.  But MLB is the biggest hole and weakness for the Broncos.

32. Jason Verrett, CB, TCU

Verett is a physical corner that gets after the ball and will stand up to WR's.  With 6 INT's last season and 16 PD's Verrett will bring a lot of production to the Niners and their aging secondary.
